Designed for Real Life: A Bathroom That Grows With the Family
Every renovation involves trade-offs—but the best ones come from clear priorities.
This project started with a challenge many growing families understand: multiple schedules, one shower, and constant morning traffic. The homeowners loved where they lived and had no interest in moving or building an addition. The solution wasn’t more space—it was using their existing space more intentionally.
Stack-able washer + dryer
Through thoughtful collaboration, we evaluated how every square foot was functioning. A key move—stacking the washer and dryer—freed up just enough room to transform a powder room into a full bathroom with a dedicated shower. That single decision dramatically improved the daily rhythm of the home.
Forever Home
But what makes this project truly successful is how it supports the family at every stage of life.
Toddler Days
Today, durability and real-life use come first. Waterproofed shower walls ensure longevity and protection behind the scenes, while wipeable paneling along the lower half of the walls stands up to the reality of little hands and everyday messes.
Living with Teens
As the family grows, the space grows with them. Thoughtful additions like a sleek shower bar for easy shaving, a linear drain with a built-in hair catch for low maintenance, and a powerful exhaust fan help the bathroom function effortlessly for busy teens and adults alike. And yes—integrating a Bluetooth speaker into the fan brings a bit of personality to those daily routines (and makes room for the inevitable shower concerts).
Growing Older
Looking ahead, the placement of this shower on the first floor becomes even more meaningful. Designed with generational living in mind, it offers long-term accessibility and reduces the need to rely on stairs—supporting the vision of a true forever home.
Every choice in this project reflects a balance between immediate needs and future planning. Prioritizing a second shower required rethinking space and making intentional compromises, but the result is a home that works better today—and continues to work for years to come.
Because the best renovations aren’t just about how a space looks—they’re about how it lives, evolves, and supports the people who call it home.
